Dr Elsie Parker
I am a Doctor of Clinical Psychology registered with the HCPC (Health Professionals Council). I have over 16 years of experience working with young people and adults with complex anxiety, depression and trauma, working in various different specialist NHS services, including Early Intervention in Psychosis, PTSD clinics and more recently, the Perinatal Mental Health Team.
Alongside my NHS work, I have set up a private practice where I offer a mix of more traditional therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with more psycho-spiritual dimensions of psychotherapy, incorporating Eastern ideas (e.g. Mindfulness Meditation and Buddhism) and Transpersonal Psychology. I have a strong background in Yoga and Vipassana Meditation and I am a trained Mindfulness teacher. I am a qualified EFT practitioner (Emotional Freedom Technique, AKA the ‘tapping technique’) which I use in my practice to help people overcome barriers to change. I am also a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) therapist and use this tool frequently to help process trauma and shift self-limiting beliefs. I am in the final stages of training in Transformational Breathwork, a powerful transformative technique.
I am a lover of nature and I try to incorporate this into people’s individual healing, helping people re-learn that we are not separate from the interconnectivity of life.

My Approach
I offer a safe space to help individuals find ways to cope with the inevitable suffering we face in life, and move towards living a more meaningful existence. My work primarily involves offering individuals the time to feel listened to and heard, to explore and reconnect to our authentic inner self that may be deeply over-shadowed by fear, traumatic memories, self-doubt, difficult thoughts, worries, sadness, loss of motivation and/or feeling stuck in life. This may be through a number of methods but often involves reconnecting to our inner needs, fundamental values and deep emotional states that may have been repressed, avoided or pushed aside.
I offer both short and long term work; this can include formulating and understanding current situations or struggles, offering ways of coping with challenges, healing trauma, reconnecting with values and helping to work through barriers in order to create a meaningful and joyful life.
Where I work
I can offer remote sessions, or in person sessions from the lovely Pithers Yard Natural Health Clinic in Castle Cary, Somerset.
