‘In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or step back into safety’ (Maslow)
The Human Experience
We are only human, we are all trying our best with the life we have been given and the resources we have. We all want to feel joyful and fulfilled and to feel like our life is going in the right direction. However, life can be hard. We get stuck on the treadmill of life, going round and round on a wheel that we did not necessarily choose, replaying the same feelings, thinking the same thoughts, having the same responses, getting stuck in limiting beliefs or traumatic memories. Sometimes we need a helping hand to help us face our fears, heal past wounds, remember our true self, and help us align with a meaningful side of life so we can once again return to our true joyful, connected and purposeful state.
About me
I am a warm, open and friendly Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC (Health Professionals Council). I have over 16 years of experience working with young people and adults with complex anxiety, depression and trauma, working in various different specialist NHS services, including Early Intervention in Psychosis, specialist PTSD clinics and more recently, the Perinatal Mental Health Team
Alongside my NHS work, I have set up a private practice where I offer a mix of more traditional therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with more psycho-spiritual dimensions of psychotherapy, incorporating Eastern ideas (e.g. Mindfulness Meditation and Buddhism) and Transpersonal Psychology. I have a strong background in Yoga and Vipassana Meditation and I am a trained Mindfulness teacher. I also frequently use EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, AKA the ‘tapping technique’) in my practice; I have found them both to be very powerful tools to help people become ‘unstuck’ in life. I am at the final stages of training in Transformational Breathwork, an incredible transformational technique.
I am a lover of nature and I try to incorporate this into people’s individual healing, helping people re-learn that we are not separate from the interconnectivity of life.
